About the Dairy Industry Superannuation Scheme (DISS)

Established by the New Zealand Dairy Board in 1952 solely for dairy industry employees, the Scheme is one of the oldest and largest employer-sponsored restricted workplace savings schemes in New Zealand. Until 1990 it operated as a pension scheme and there are still some members (or their spouses) who receive a pension.

Today, the Dairy Industry Superannuation Scheme (DISS) continues to offer employees of participating co-operative dairy companies or corporate bodies (invited by the Dairy Industry Superannuation Scheme Trustee Limited ("the Trustee")) the opportunity to join the Scheme.

DISS currently has 13 participating employers:

  • Alto Packaging Limited
  • Canpac International Limited
  • DEF Pharma (NZ) Limited
  • Fonterra Brands (New Zealand) Limited
  • Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited
  • Fonterra Limited
  • Goodman Fielder New Zealand Limited
  • Lactanol Limited
  • MilkTest NZ LP
  • RD1 Limited
  • The Tatua Co-operative Dairy Company Limited
  • Tip Top Ice Cream Limited

The Scheme is registered under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013.
